We have been commissioned by a major Boston bank to sell at public auction items from the Beverly Farms Ma, Residence of Katherine Brooke Hamlin Whittier on behalf of The Ross Whittier Remainder Trust. Katherine is a descendant of Statesman & Vice President Hannibal Hamlin under Abraham Lincoln. The Whittier’s Greek revival farmhouse overlooks West beach. Along w/ family items, the Whittier’s carefully collected choice art & antiques to grace their home. Highlights include: A fine grouping of oil paintings discovered in the attic & throughout the house by Rockport artist Henry Aiken Vincent (1864 - 1931). An important Folk Art Carved eagle with American flag by George Stapf (1862-1958). We will also be selling a fine grouping of period furniture& accessories from the Whittier estate in this auction.
We are also representing the Estate of George Russell Harding. Mr. Harding was a former executive at State Street Bank and Trust Company in Boston, he resided at 81 Fairmont Street in Chestnut Hill. Mr. Harding is a descendant of President Warren G. Harding. The Whitney Estate of Westwood Ma, the Estate of Lydia Prescott Thayer of Cragie Street Cambridge, Ma. The Prescott’s and (Coffins) were an early family from New Bedford Ma and has a summer estate in S. Dartmouth named “Mariano”.
